Some retailers are even using your location to send promotions as you pass their store! Find a resource that provides location-specific information or services - NOT maps. Post a link to the resource and a brief summary to the Location-based information and services discussion. Review 2 others.

DoorDash Food Delivery & Takeout - From Restaurants Near You
There are a lot of applications and websites that use location-based services to send you promotions regularly to tempt you to come to their store or restaurant. One application that popped into my mind when I first thought about it is DoorDash, they regularly send me notifications on my phone about local restaurants near me that either have a deal for me if I order through DoorDash or if I order from said restaurant DoorDash will provide me with a promotion such as free delivery. They utilize my location to pinpoint nearby restaurants that use Doordash and show me the closes places as well as when I do order from a restaurant, they allow me to see my Delivery driver go to the restaurant and where they are when they are driving to my location.
iNaturalist is an application that can take pictures of plants and animals and name the species. It uses your location to reference your image with species native to the area, because some species may appear similar but originate from different geographical areas. Occasionally they will challenge you to record certain species in your area based on the time of year.
I found ( Gas Buddy). It is mostly an application for both Android and IOS but does also have a website you can check out. It helps people to find the cheapest gas prices close to wherever you are when you are. The application uses your precise location to provide you with the best options to save the most on gas.

I found (find my iPhone) to as a good location-based service because whenever you lose your phone or it may stolen, you can easily find it with Apple's powerful location services and map infrastructure. Not only you connect your phone, but you can also add your family members' phones to your account and help them in a similar situation, it also supports when your lost phone is offline and not connected to a network.

A location based service I found was my AMC app on my phone. The use my location to send me notifications and pop up my A-List Rewards card any time I am in proximity of any of their theaters. I dug into it more and found that last year AMC also launched a location based pricing program, which I think is absurd. This technology's primary goal is to get more people into their seats and these initiatives are more direct ways of reaching their customers
I found that even my car utilizes location-based services. I have benefited from this a couple of times by being able to lock my car from a distance when I forgot to do so. Additionally, wherever I go, my radio plays news relevant to my current location.
One example of location-based information and services is Google Maps, which provides real-time navigation and location services for ride-sharing platforms like Lyft and Uber. The app allows drivers to see the customer’s precise location and navigate the fastest route. Customers, on the other hand, can track the driver’s real-time location, estimated time of arrival, and the exact route being taken. After the ride is completed, location sharing between the customer and driver stops automatically. This technology improves the efficiency and transparency of ride-hailing services, enhancing both the driver and rider's experience.
I found that Uber Eats is using a real-time location-based service. Uber Eats is an application for food ordering and delivering software. Through the mobile application, the carriers identified the recipient location within 100m of the dropoff location. Location sharing stops when your order is delivered.
A location based information and service I found was Amazon Location Service. I currently use it to help track packages I order and it provides a specific location of where my package is. It also has geocoding and real-time tracking for a variety of applications. The service allows people to have a precise location and track devices in real-time. These tools are used a lot for applications in industries like emergency response, retail, and transportation to make sure that it is efficient and improves the customer experiences when locating their packages.
