The guidelines help balance respect for the original work with the ability to remix it. The interactive game tests my understanding by showing different scenarios where I have to decide if resources with certain licenses can be combined. Public domain resources and those with a CC-BY license can be combined with a BY-NC license. This mix is allowed because both licenses permit sharing and adaptation. However, the BY-NC license restricts the work from being used for commercial purposes.

I have learned that CC BY-NC does not contain a copy-left or Share-alike condition, it can be re-licensed under 'all rights reserved' (ARR), since no further rights are gained of an ARR work. You would still not be able to use this commercially.

CC-BY-NC The derivative work can be released under the same conditions of the most restricted licence in the pack. There are, however, other alternatives as well.

 CC BY-NC-ND It is possible to release this combination under a more restrictive licence by adding the ND restriction. However, where possible, we recommend that re-mixers try to respect the intentions of the original creators, especially where no new or original materials have been added.

CC BY-NC-SA is possible to release this combination under a more restrictive licence by adding the SA restriction. However, where possible, we recommend that re-mixers try to respect the intentions of the original creators, especially where no new or original materials have been added.

The interactive game tests my knowledge by showing different scenarios.  I have to decide if resources with certain licenses can be combined into a new work can combine public domain resources and materials with a CC-BY license with a BY-NC license. It helps me understand which combinations are allowed and which are not.  This mix is allowed because both types of content permit sharing and adaptation. 

The important rule is that the BY-NC license restricts commercial use.
