I revisited my previous I Wonder assignments in module 8 and focused on the topic of accountability in technology. I reviewed case studies, legal frameworks, scholarly articles, and industry reports to find answers. While I learned a lot, some questions remain:
How do we decide who is responsible when technology, like AI systems, causes harm?
Are the current laws and safeguards enough to keep new technologies safe and fair?
These questions made me realize that accountability and regulations are still unclear in many areas of technology. As technology advances quickly, we need better rules and systems to ensure safety and fairness for everyone. I found the addition source for above question : https://www.gao.gov/products/gao-21-519sp?utm
I read the GAO's AI Accountability Framework, which focuses on managing AI responsibly. It explains how governance, data quality, performance, and monitoring are important to ensure AI systems are safe and fair. The framework highlights the need for clear policies to avoid harm and assign accountability. This made me realize how crucial it is to have strong guidelines as AI becomes more common in our daily lives.
I reviewed the Scam Trends discussion in Module 4 and read an article titled "The 12 Latest Scams You Need to Avoid (2024)" shared by Adrian Munoz. Scams and fraud are common these days, so it is important to raise awareness and educate people. I also read an article from Aura about new online scams. It explained how scammers use phishing emails, fake phone calls, and social media tricks to steal from people. The article gave tips like avoiding unknown links and keeping personal information safe. It also said that using strong passwords and two-factor authentication can protect us from scams. This information is very useful for staying safe online.
