1. TOPIC: Interesting People with My Name.

Reply from Isaiah Smith

My name is Isaiah Smith. When you search my name, you'll run into a lot of athletes, the sports mainly being basketball and football. I found that interesting as I play basketball as well. My name is really common as I share it with many other people. You could find me on LinkedIn. Someone that comes to mind when I hear Isaiah is Isaiah Thomas. He is an NBA player who is 5'9. I found his dedication to the game really inspiring at a young age, and I remembering it driving me to go harder.

Reply from Kyle Quan

My name is Kyle Quan. There are a few people, seemingly from all over the world, who share my name, such as a construction specialist from Indiana or a mental health specialist. I can find myself on LinkedIn fairly easily, as well as another person with my name who lives in San Francisco. Since I don't have Instagram, I don't show up on any social medias, but there are several people on Instagram named Kyle Quan.

Reply from Sinhye (Sherry) Kim

My legal name is Sinhye Kim and also I go by Sherry Kim. Since I am a realtor, I can find my name on Google and LinkedIn. Including my Korean and English names, not many figures are on the search engines, and around 50 people are on LinkedIn. There is a research assistant professor in nursing, a pianist, and an assistant luxury manager at The RealReal. Most of them are female. I know several celebrities in Korea have the same first name as me, but I don’t know anybody named Sherry Kim in the US yet.

On Google, I found about 10 pages of information related to my name. I saw a Venezuelan actress who was in a Ford commercial in 1997. It's interesting that the majority of results take me to people's Instagram profiles. On linkedin i saw that there were a few engineers and one old olympian. I didn't find any result that pointed to someone who was in California or whos life resembled mine at all.

Reply from Liang Guan

When I first searched for my name, Liang Guan, on Google, I expected to find some standard information—maybe a few social media profiles, possibly some news links. The first results were a combination of LinkedIn profiles, GitHub repositories, and some academic papers. It’s fascinating to think that while I’ve carved out my own identity online, others with my name are also leaving digital footprints across various fields.Another Liang Guan appeared to be an entrepreneur, running a small café in Toronto, Canada. The café's Instagram page was vibrant, full of beautiful pictures of food and local events. This was in sharp contrast to the academic papers I had seen earlier, which seemed to belong to another Liang Guan—a researcher focused on environmental science, based out of Beijing.

Reply from Izel Garcia

After googling my name, the first 4 things I saw was a link to every one of my social media accounts with links to them and others of posts I’ve made. I don't think I ever thought about being mentioned on the internet but I for sure knew that I had a presence online, I’m religiously on Instagram and post all the time so I know you can find me pretty easily if you really look. There were a lot of people I saw that share my name, I saw this mainly on Facebook. When I searched up my name on DuckDuckGo I found a lot of facebook users that share my name with me. Within that search I found women and people of many professions. One has an internship at Facebook and lives in Houston, Texas, another has a Youtube Channel, and the other is a student at San Diego State University. Finding this person's account was very interesting because she's close in age to me and I’m also a college student plus San Diego isn't really all that far so to know there's someone with my name so close freaks me out a little. I wouldn’t say its a problem if someone has the same name as me, I would just be surprised.

Reply from Vincent Tai

There are a lot of people on LinkedIn with the name Vincent Tai and a lot of people who have the same name as me but there are no websites of myself. I recently just learned that The name Vincent  means "conquering" or "winning"  in the Bible. It is a Latin name that has been used for centuries, especially in France, and was later brought into the English language. This is something I just found out with the help of technology.

Reply from Roberto Gomez Sandoval

There is exactly only one interesting person I could find online with the exact name as mine. Roberto Gomez a famous actor/tv writer in Mexico, but there's tons of famous soccer players, and baseball players named Roberto. I tried to find a meaning for my name is well but there is no definitive meaning sadly. Roberto is also used in Mexico for slang. They use the name to name a stolen item. For example. "Oh yeah that tv was a Roberto." but in Spanish.

Reply from Giovanni Grego

The name Giovanni is of Italian origin, meaning "God is gracious," and is the Italian form of John. It has been popular in Italy for centuries and is often associated with artistic and historical figures like Giovanni da Verrazzano, an explorer, and Giovanni Boccaccio, a famous writer. In addition to this, my favorite fun fact about my name is that in pop culture, Giovanni is the name of the eighth gym leader in the Pokemon, generation one series.

Reply from Emerson Redden

There is an Emerson Redden that went to Boonsboro High School, a Winfired Rena Meister Redden that lived from 1894 to 1982, and a Reese Emerson Redden that was chosen to represent her high school for interviews at the North Carolina Apple Festival. Thankfully, I haven't found that my name is too common, however it could be problematic in the future if I lost contact with someone and they tried to reach out and mistook the wrong Emerson for me.

Reply from Jocelyn Chang

One of the most common associations with my name that I know of is Jocelyn Flores. XXXTentacion made a song about her because she was one of his close friends and she committed suicide while she was visiting him in Florida. The song became extremely popular in 2017-2018. Another person is Jocelyn Wildenstein, who is a celebrity who got a lot of plastic surgery and people started to say that she resembles Catwoman.

There are so many references to Asha Mishra. I found a pediatrician, a nutritionist, a Faculty Development Enabler, a psychiatrist, and many more. Seeing how diverse the professional fields are for people with my name is fascinating. While I haven’t met any of them, it's interesting to think about how others with my name are making their mark in different industries!

I looked up my name Brandon Ortega on google and I found out that I share the name with a famous actor who also goes by the same name, and commonly known for the movie "We Could Still Be Pen Pals."

Reply from Athan K

I can say that no-one on earth shares my name, which is quite unlucky in the modern era as every little bit of privacy you can maintain is extremely important. It's common for many cultures to re-use names, which is very lucky for them.

Reply from Yeimili Adame Hernandez

When I search for my own name Yeimili, not one person showed up. My first name is very unique which is what I love so much about it! When I searched my first and last name  combined, my last name was a bit more common. It showed me a commercial real state agency called “J Adame” to a “Duke department of emergency medicine”, to several others with the same last name as well. This is very interesting to know how common or uncommon your name is.

Reply from Khin Yadanar Kyaw

When I searched my name, I saw a lot of people who share my name. Some of them are manager in their field. But it is rare to have the same name. In my country, 20% of girls name start with “Khin” like mine. When I search my name on instagram and Facebook, they show my account.

Reply from Ryan Wong

When I searched my own name, the first person I found was a singer. I also found that a lawyer, a novelist, and the CEO of Visier, Inc. share my name. I also found my own Instagram page, although this is probably because I've searched for it before. I honestly expected to find people sharing my name. My first name, Ryan, is one of the most popular names in English. My last name, Wong, it also the most common name in Chinese(although it is usually spelled as Wang). So finding people with my name is to be expected, really.

Reply from Bryant Molina-Chavez

There wasn't anyone that really stood out with my last name, if you seperate my last name sure you get people like cesar chavez, Julio Chavez(Boxer) and Hugo Chavez but with by searching my full last name only a bunch of random people mostly from Central America came up. Ona funny note, There was a case about someone entering through the border named "U.S. Vs. Molina Chavez". I didn't expect to see that but that made my night and gave me a chuckle.

Reply from John Michael Arugay

Given that my name is quite unique, there weren't too many people that shares it. Upon googling my name, the first ones that come up are my social media, but after some scrolling, I found a man named Dr. John Arugay that practices his profession in Philippines. After him, its just quite a bit of regular people that share the same name. Guess i'll take it upon myself to be another interesting John Arugay.

Reply from Michael Wuerflein

When searching my name, no other names come up because of the uniqueness of my last name, Wuerflein. I do however, have different people come up under my name. Pictures of other guy's are shown which have nothing to do with my name. I do see results for my old photos from photobucket, myspace, and Instagram; I do not have any active social media, so that makes things interesting.

Reply from Huyen Phan

When I looked up my name, I found Dr. Huyen Phan at Northwestern Medicine as well as a registered nurse with the same name and a Doctor of Philosophy under the same name who actively posts researches. I believe it might cause some problems if people try to find me on the internet since there are so many people with the same name and we need to upload an image so we can differentiate from one person to another. So far, I have met any peers with the same name like mine.

First, Professor Yu Feng, who is an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He has profound attainments in the field of computer science, especially in automatic programming technology. However, I believe that everyone's experience and identity are unique, and even if they have the same name, they cannot be easily mistaken. At the same time, I am honored to be named after these outstanding figures. Their achievements and contributions are role models for me to learn from.

An interesting person with the same name as me, Justin Guo, works in the film industry. He’s part of the camera and electrical department, as well as a cinematographer and director. Some of his known works include "Audition Audition" (2021), "Gabryl: Too Late" (2021), and "Mantra" (2022). It's pretty cool to share a name with someone involved in such creative projects!

Reply from Huu Phu Nguyen

As I researched my name on the internet, I only came across a few people with my exact name, but they have the same variation of my name, which I decided to discuss. Three remarkable people on my list were Rev. Huu Phu Nguyen, Nguyen Huu Duy Khan, and Nguyen Huu Phu. Rev. Huu Phu Nguyen is a Vietnamese pastor who served as a 1st Lieutenant in the South Vietnamese military. He was captured during the Fall of Saigon and spent seven years in a forced labor camp. Nguyen Huu Duy Kan is a Vietnamese television and film actor, well known for his series, such as Mrs. 5 Bong, and films like Through the Lake of Chi. Nguyen Huu Phu is a prominent Vietnamese political figure; he held various high-ranking positions within the Communist Party of Vietnam, including serving as the Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council. He is also recognized for his academic contributions, having been the first principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Hanoi. I haven't encountered a situation where I was mistaken for someone else due to my name. I believe the case is that my name isn't that widespread in Western countries.

Reply from James Cadei

While searching my name on the internet, I have only found a few other people with the same exact name. There are a few others with just my last name but not my whole name. I don't see any problems with mistaking me for someone else because there really isn't many with my name that I can find. I could only find about 3 links that referenced people with the same name as me. I can only find one person with the same last name that I would say is interesting. Her name is, Emily Cadei and she is in politics and has made it to Newsweek.

My last name means "jewelry" in Turkish, so people often assume I come from a family with ties to the jewelry business, though as far as I know, I don’t. People also think I’m wealthy because of my name, and that creates pressure, but it also drives me and motivates me to prove myself.

One Brian Rios is a tattoo artist, while another works as a digital marketing consultant, and one is in the automotive industry. There's also a freelance writer named Brian Rios. Since I’m working on my Computer Science degree, I hope to add my name to the list as a Software iOS Developer in the future.

Reply from Adrian Munoz

When looking up my name Adrian Munoz on Google it shows quite a few people who share my name that play soccer and even an actor as well. It also shows quite a few social media platforms that show people with a similar name. When I put my name into LinkedIn it showed multiple pages and a variety of these people sharing my name that work in Digital Marketing, Business Managment, AI and robotics, and Aerospace, I was also quite surprised to see that quite a few of these people are based in the San Francisco area with one person actually having a similar job as me, I don't see it being a problem of someone mistaking me as to another person sharing my name but instead find it interesting actually, since I personally do not even hear someone having the same first name as me too often.

Phyu Phyu Thant, a common Burmese name, is shared by many individuals working in various professional sectors. A search on DuckDuckGo revealed people with the same name holding roles such as a head of trade marketing at Heineken, a senior client reporting analyst, a business analyst, a software developer, a senior marketing specialist, and a CAD designer. Additionally, a Google search showed links to the author's own social media accounts as the top results.
