I came across the "17 Goals" website and found it quite engaging. It presents 17 goals, each with a quick summary It made me wonder how long it will take for Goal 6, “Clean Water and Sanitation” to become a reality. Despite this question, I really appreciated the overall purpose and design of the website.
In recent years, significant progress has been made in utilizing technology to enhance education and promote global learning opportunities. A small community in rural Kenya is a typical example, where a group of young students have access to quality education through innovative technology solutions.
Background: Like many communities in underdeveloped areas, this community also lacks infrastructure, including schools, well-trained teachers, and learning resources. This situation poses a significant obstacle to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) - ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education for all.
I found out the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) established by the United Nations is very important for society. I have a better understanding about the goals they have for achieving a better and more sustainable future for all by 2030. They encourage collaboration with all nations and help with areas such as clean energy, education, health and growth of the economy to create a better world.
I find the "17 Goals from the UN" very interesting. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) from the UN outline the current situation and future blueprints for people and the environment on their page. I'm curious about how computer and internet technology can help address these issues more effectively. How does IT apply to solving these issues?
I found the "17 Goals" website intrigued me with its clear presentation of global priorities, particularly the inspiring message of promoting inclusive, quality education for all, highlighting education's power to drive positive change and empower individuals. How can we ensure that lifelong learning opportunities are accessible to everyone, regardless of their background?
I found Mastodon to be really interesting. At first I didn't quite understand it but after a little bit of research I come to find out that it's like open discord where you can join multiple communities. You don't need an invite to join. It's like an alternative to social media but in a smaller scale. Everyone has control over that one community I believe. They could do a better job at marketing and making it more new user friendly. My question would be is do they censor speech within their platform? you saw the government censor speech in Instagram, Facebook, Tikok, and twitter before it was X. Another question would be how much people actually know of Mastodon.
I found the Calculating Empires website really interesting. I’ve always been fascinated by empires that no longer exist, and this site is incredibly helpful in understanding the reasons behind their success or failure.
I found the "17 Goals" website to be really interesting. There are 17 goals provided on the screen with brief information and facts to come with it while you hover over the topic. I asked myself, how does goal 4 aim to ensure inclusive quality education? I also asked myself , How is progress measured for each SDG? I found the overall goal of the website to be amazing though.
The Mastodon website appears to be an example of the basic online networking app - creating servers for people to join and communicate within. People from all over the world are able to create an account and join servers based on their interests, hobbies, or employment. I was curious as to how the company makes enough money to support the physical technology required to operate their servers, but I don't personally use the service so I cannot speak on whether they use advertisements or sell user data to remain in business.
I found THE 17 GOALS | Sustainable Development section interesting, specifically the 17 goals which are highlighted with its statistics and pictures for the viewers. but I wonder, how global data is collected to measure progress on Sustainable Development Goals across different countries? and what technologies are most effective in advancing these goals?
In the calculating empires section, I found the idea of human computers really interesting. It made me wonder why someone would need that. Where did the idea originate from? Along with that, did the idea get actualized? I also saw things about resource computing, I have never heard of that and it sounded very interesting.
