1. Overpopulation and Urbanization: Vertical Farming Skyscrapers – Cities could integrate self-sustaining, multi-level vertical farms within skyscrapers. These farms, using hydroponics and advanced robotics, could grow food in densely populated urban areas, reducing reliance on rural agriculture and alleviating food supply pressures in crowded cities

2. Deforestation: Drone Reforestation Networks- A fleet of autonomous drones could be developed to plant trees and monitor reforestation efforts at large scales. These drones, powered by renewable energy and guided by AI, could target deforested areas and plant diverse native species, accelerating reforestation efforts and enhancing biodiversity restoration.

Global issues and technology solutions.

  1. Climate crisis

Without a doubt, EV cars are better than gas-driven cars for the environment. But An electric car is still more expensive than a traditional car. One solution is governments can build an E-road infrastructure. Cars can charge while driving. These will lower the electric vehicle price. For this, government expenditures are necessary. They can allocate infrastructure budgets for making an E-road and find a cost-efficient construction method. Try to use 3D printing with technology.

  1. Need of affordable and clean Energy

AI data centers consume vast amounts of electricity and generate significant carbon footprints. According to scientists, a single lightning bolt can produce around 1 gigawatt of power, which is enough to power a small town for a day. If we develop a technology to capture and utilize this lightning energy, it could be a valuable natural resource for renewable energy.

  1. Zero hunger goal

To maximize food production, adopting smart technologies can be beneficial. It includes developing new seeds, implementing vertical farming, and utilizing AI-managed food production systems. Additionally, establishing direct connection platforms between producers and consumers would allow consumers to access quality food at lower costs. Another idea is to create an online food-sharing platform similar to Airbnb, where users can sell, buy, or exchange foods or dishes based on their location.

  1. Water crisis

Building purifying water and recycling water technology is needed. For instance, I would like to reuse household water to irrigate outdoor trees and plants. California government already practices this technology, but it is still expensive for other countries and individuals. Hopefully, technology will find an economy of scale and become affordable to everyone.

Here are some global issues and simple technology solutions:

  1. Climate Change
    • Solution: AI can predict changes in the environment and help us use renewable energy like solar and wind more efficiently.
    • Innovation: New technology can capture CO2 from the air and turn it into useful products, like materials for building.
  2. Water Scarcity
    • Solution: Smart water systems powered by the Internet of Things (IoT) can help us use water more wisely and make farming more efficient.
    • Innovation: Solar-powered machines can turn seawater into fresh water, helping places with limited freshwater.
  3. Healthcare Accessibility
    • Solution: Telemedicine platforms, paired with AI tools, can provide remote doctor visits to people in areas without enough healthcare services.
    • Innovation: Mobile health clinics, equipped with AI, can bring health care to people in rural areas.
  4. Food Insecurity
    • Solution: AI can help predict when and where food shortages will happen, making it easier to distribute food efficiently.
    • Innovation: Farms that grow food in cities using renewable energy and robots can provide fresh food locally, even in food deserts.
  5. Global Health Pandemics
    • Solution: AI can track disease outbreaks in real time, helping to spot them early and respond quickly.
    • Innovation: Wearable devices can track our health and send information to doctors, helping detect symptoms early, even before we feel sick.

In the project team discussion, I hope to learn more about how to collaborate effectively through online tools, especially the best practices in task allocation, time management, and communication feedback. I think data visualization can play an important role in these aspects. For example, using charts or timelines to clearly display project progress, task allocation, and key milestones can not only help team members quickly grasp the overall situation, but also improve work efficiency.

One thing that I have learned about online group work is that feedback is essential for taking a conversation further.

I have learned that good group online work needs good time management skills and positive feedback or encouragement to increase productivity. I learned many things from my research and peer study works. Also, feedback on my original comments makes me think about any missing points or good things about my ideas. Next time, I would like to learn more insights from other students and share and exchange ideas.

I’ve learned that online group work requires extra effort in communication and organization. It’s easy to lose track of things without face-to-face meetings. Next time, I’d recommend establishing clear goals and deadlines early on, and using tools like shared calendars or task lists to stay organized. Regular check-ins can also keep things on track.

I have some experience in online group work before, and I understand that there may be some challenges in collaborating in a virtual environment. To help everyone collaborate more smoothly, I would like to share some suggestions. First, choose a communication platform that everyone is familiar with and easy to use, such as WeChat, Zoom, or Slack, to ensure smooth information exchange. Second, clarify the division of labor and responsibilities, and develop a clear project plan and schedule so that each member is clear about their tasks and deadlines. Third, hold online meetings regularly to share progress and feedback in a timely manner and solve problems encountered. In addition, establish a good team atmosphere and encourage open communication and active participation. If anyone finds it difficult to work in an online group, please let us know and we can find solutions together.

Working with others in a group or as a team is vital to success. No matter where you work or what you do, there will usually always be some sort of situation that requires you to collaborate with others in order to achieve a goal. Communication and optimism is key along with being able to take criticism in a professional manner and being accountable.

Since I am going into the medical field for my career, building strong collaboration skills would be essential to my success in my field. The only experience I have had with online collaboration was from my online school year during the COVID lockdown, and from what I've learned, sometimes you need to be the first person to ask a question to get the ball rolling and foster a strong conversation.

I agree that collaborating in an online group is essential, and practicing collaboration skills is important for preparing my career. Effective communication is key for constructive collaboration. It involves not only listening to others but also requires empathy and the ability to manage conflicts.

From my point of view, there has been a lot of changes when it comes to groups and entertainment online  in general. When I was growing up, we didn't have online groups and not much of online entertainment. Groups were groups and entertainment was whatever you could actually physically do. Things have changed. I personally like the convenience and quickness of everything now. But at the same time, the sense of adventure seems lost. With everything so easily accessible and communication as easy as it is now, most don't know the corded phone call and just saying, I'll be there when I get there and next you were off on an adventure to get to wherever you were headed. Over time, this can be bad as we become more reliant on technology for things that we didn't used to but good because it makes life easier. Sorry this one was all over the place, just writing what came to mind.

From my personal perspective, the changes in online groups and entertainment methods have brought a lot of convenience and fun to my life. Now, I can keep in touch with friends and share my life anytime and anywhere through social media, online games and other platforms. This instant interaction makes me feel that the world has become closer. At the same time, various emerging entertainment forms such as live broadcasts and short videos provide me with a variety of entertainment options and meet entertainment needs in different situations.

The world of online entertainment was really great during its early years but I think lately it is merely just reinventing the wheel with cable TV. With the amount of subscriptions people have on online streaming services it basically just costs as much as cable with the same amount of ads as well. Over time I think all these streaming services are just going to keep merging with each other and costing the average consume more and more with no better quality in their shows or ads. I think this is bad because it is just leading to paying for ads than paying to stream directly like the services were originally intended to do.

Although the essence of entertainment remains the same, the way we enjoy it and the groups we choose to share it with are constantly evolving. We see many online groups emerging and disappearing over time. This change is neither good nor bad because it's natural evolution. But we must be aware of these changes and adapt to it.

Online groups and entertainment are definitely evolving, with more people turning to digital platforms for shared experiences, such as virtual concerts, streaming watch parties, and interactive gaming. This shift could lead to a more connected global community, but it also raises concerns about the loss of in-person interactions and the potential for decreased social skills. Overall, while the convenience and accessibility of online entertainment can be positive, it's essential to find a balance to ensure that we maintain meaningful connections in our lives.

I do apologize for my late responses in the group. I was only able to see the group assignment on my phone ironically. I have fixed the issue with my computer. I can't say that I have experience working in groups online, but definitely in person. I look forward to seeing how this online collaboration will work out. As for questions, I remain open minded and will ask when they arise.
